China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued a blue alert at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, warning that foggy weather will sweep most parts in the nation's north and central regions on Sunday.

Fog and haze are expected to cover the middle and western regions in North China, most of the areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, and the regions along Yangtze and Huaihe rivers. Some parts in the eastern areas of the Sichuan Basin will also be shrouded in fog, said the NMC.

The heavy fog will decrease the visibility to within 1,000 meters in some parts the southeast areas in Shanxi Province, the north regions in Henan, Hubei, Anhui, and Hunan provinces, and the northwest parts of Jiangxi Province, with visibility in some areas less than 500 meters, according to the NMC.
