Average starting salary of college grads rises to 2,300 yuan

After a two-year downturn due to the international financial crisis, the starting salary of China's college graduates is starting to rebound. Data from related human resources companies shows that the starting salary of college graduates averages more than 2,300 yuan in 2010, an increase of 16 percent from a year earlier.

The average starting salary in Beijing stands at nearly 3,000 yuan,
Beijing Evening News reported this on Tuesday.

According to analysis from a research center, there are three causes for rising salaries. First, there has been a new wave of recruitment in the job market since the end of 2009. Thanks to employers' increased demand for college graduates, the employment situation has improved, so the change in demand and supply has naturally led to the rise in the starting salary.

Second, college graduates have higher salary expectations along with increased job opportunities in 2010 than in 2009. Third, more convenient transportation infrastructure and economic development have enhanced the flow and allocation of human resources among different regions, which has naturally driven up salary levels.

Changes in monthly starting salaries of college graduates:

1. Shanghai – 3,500 yuan

2. Shenzhen — 3,200 yuan

3. Beijing — 3,000 yuan
