The period also saw offenses involving explosives and firearms down 9.8 and 31.4 percent respectively, the Public Security Ministry said at a meeting held here.
The police also broke up 50 gangs, shut down 220 criminal premises selling and manufacturing firearms and tracked down 8,070 suspects.
Crackdowns on firearms-related offenses will continue to ensure the smooth running of the Shanghai World Expo and Guangzhou Asian Games to be held in November.
