A gang leader in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality was Friday jailed for 19 years for organized crime, illegal business operations, intentional injury and illegal detention, a court announced Saturday.
The Dadukou District People's Court also fined Wang Guangcheng 45 million yuan (6.6 million U.S. dollars).
The court found Wang earned more than 17 million yuan in interest after extending 80 million yuan of illegal loans from 2006 to 2009.
Members of his gang used force and coercion, including illegal detention, intentional injury, provocation and property damage, in the illegal lending activities, the court said.
Fifteen other members of the gang received jail terms ranging from one to 14 years.
