The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Certification and Accreditation Administration of People's Republic of China (CNCA) held a meeting on Sept. 9 to begin a special project designed to address climate change, namely research on a low-carbon certification system.
The project is based on China's current conditions and development. It aims to research and establish the framework of a low-carbon certification system through comparative research of international low-carbon certification systems and analyzing the low-carbon certification policy and technical needs of China. It will also provide related government organs with the basis to formulate the low-carbon certification and management system.
The research on the low-carbon certification system will be organized and implemented by the NDRC and the CNCA as well as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Other ministries will also participate in the project.
The project was initiated by the China Quality Certification Center. The China National Institute of Standardization, the Energy Research Institute, the China Electronics Standardization Institute and the China Environment United Certification Center will also take part in the implementation of the project.
