"Jordan's friendship with China continues to go from strength to strength, and it is something we hold very dear," said Queen Rania Al Abdullah before she left for a four-day working visit to China Monday.

In a written interview with Xinhua, Queen Rania said China and Jordan have been learning from each other for decades.

"Part of what binds us is all we have in common: we are both working determinedly to create a future of opportunity and prosperity for our youth; we're both exploring new partnerships for progress, and both our nations place family and education at the heart of who we are."

The Queen's schedule in China includes visiting Beijing and attending the World Economic Forum's Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions to be held in northern China's coastal city of Dalian on Sept. 6-8 as the first eminent advocate for children of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) .

She said as an advocate of UNICEF, she was looking forward to charting the progress that China has made in the fields of child health and education. "In the space of just two decades, China has lifted hundreds of millions of its people out of poverty, and I find that remarkable."

The Queen said she was also "to meet with representatives from women's sector to strengthen ties and deepen friendship with women networks in China."

She would also visit the Peking University which she hoped to

"explore the possibility of partnership between one of our leading universities in Jordan and Peking University."

Commenting on China's development, she said "China is on the move and blazing a trail for others to follow. I think we have much to learn from China's dynamic growth and development."

The Queen said China has been a fascinating land steeped in history, enriched with cultural treasures and inhabited by gracious people of diverse origins.

She mentioned the Chinese symbolic Great Wall in particular, saying "To this day, one of my fondest memories is seeing the Great Wall of China. It was simply awe-inspiring, and undoubtedly worthy of its selection as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World."

"Although the coming visit is a working trip, I certainly will not leave China without seeing more of it's wonderful cultural heritage," she added.
