China and Russia will sign more than 10 cooperation agreements during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's official visit to Russia, said Russian Ambassador to China Sergei Razov on Monday.

Razov said at a press conference that the agreements will cover cooperation on nuclear energy, finance, key high-tech projects and medium- and small-scale enterprises.

During the visit, Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will meet with Wen. Wen and his Russian counterpart Viktor Zubkov will discuss a series of issues regarding bilateral relations, including the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, said Razov.

He said the two sides will have discussions on energy cooperation, including the construction of oil pipelines, gas pipelines and the transmission of electricity from Russia to China.

The two PMs will jointly chair the 12th regular meeting between the prime ministers of China and Russia, and the second China-Russia business summit.

Razov hailed the smooth development of Russia-China relations in various fields, saying in politics particular, President Putin and Chinese President Hu Jintao had held five meetings this year, which greatly promoted the development of bilateral relations.

Up to September this year, bilateral trade volume had exceeded the total volume of last year, topping 33 billion U.S. dollars, and according to prediction of both sides, the number is expected to top 40 billion dollars for the whole year, hitting record high, said Razov.

He said Russia and China have very similar or same position on a series of major international and regional issues, saying the two countries both insist on establishing a new international order featuring equity, further strengthening the guiding role and status of the United Nations, and resolving international issues through political methods based on the principle of mutual respect.

The closing ceremony of the Year of China will be held during Wen's visit. Razov said the two sides have jointly organized more than 500 items of activities under the national year programs in the past two years, which have greatly promoted the friendship between the two peoples.

He said the two sides have agreed to regularize some activities of the national year programs.
