China was re-elected Thursday as member of the U.N. Economic and Social Council with a three-year term beginning from Jan. 1, 2008.
China, together with other 17 member states, won the election at plenary meeting of the 62nd session of the U.N. General Assembly, with the support of 181 nations.
Since 1972, China has been the member of the Council which consists of 54 members. Source: Xinhua
