Chinese, Zimbabwean women leaders vow to cement bilateral ties

Gu Xiulian, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, Monday met with a Zimbabwean women delegation, vowing to promote friendly ties between the two nations.

Gu, who also chairs the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), briefed guests about social and economic development as well as women status in China, voicing the hope to maintain sound growth in cooperation and friendly exchanges.

Echoing Gu's remarks, Grace Mugabe, the First Lady of Zimbabwe, who led the delegation, said China's development benefits the whole world including Africa, and would like to make efforts continuously to deepen friendship between Zimbabwe and China.

The delegation are here for a goodwill visit from Nov. 17 to 26at the invitation of ACWF.

On the same day, Gu also met with Havea Tu'iha'angana, speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Tonga, and Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the committee for foreign cultural relations of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
