Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said Monday that China stands ready to boost trade, investment and other ties with Spain as part of the joint efforts to promote the all-round strategic partnership between the two countries.
Hui, who arrived in Madrid Sunday for a visit, told Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero at their meeting Monday that relations between China and Spain have grown rapidly in recent years and are historically at their best.
The two countries have seen closer political relations, stronger economic and trade ties and ever-increasing exchanges in humanities and cultural areas, Hui said.
The Chinese government values its relations with Spain and is ready to boost bilateral practical cooperation in trade, agriculture, science and technology, and investment so as to promote the strategic partnership, he said.
The Chinese vice premier said China appreciates the Spanish government's adherence to the one-China policy.
On the broader issue of China-Europe relations, Hui said China views the all-round strategic partnership with Europe from a strategic perspective, supports the integration of the European Union (EU) and welcomes the 27-nation bloc playing a more constructive role in international affairs.
Zapatero, for his part, said the two countries, with joint efforts, have maintained frequent high-level contact, deepened bilateral cooperation and coordinated closely in international and regional issues.
Zapatero highlighted Spain's efforts to promote the all-round strategic partnership with China and its continued adherence to the one-China policy.
Spain will continue to work for the stable and healthy growth of Europe-China relations within the EU framework, the Spanish prime minister said. Source:Xinhua
