French President Nicolas Sarkozy left Shanghai Tuesday, concluding his three-day state visit to China.

During his stay in Shanghai, east China's economic hub, Sarkozy met with Yu Zhengsheng, head of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Sarkozy said France would establish long-term cooperation with Shanghai in areas of economy and trade, science and technology, education, and environmental protection.

He said he hoped French entrepreneurs could seize the Chinese market and expand their presence in China.

After the meeting Sarkozy attended the signing ceremony between Shanghai Shentong Metro. Co., Ltd and French Alstom company on purchasing signal equipment for Shanghai metro line 10.

Besides, Sarkozy visited Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center and the Bund Area.
