Representatives from the Chinese and the Japanese media concluded a two-day meeting in Tokyo Tuesday in an effort to promote mutual understanding through dialogues.
During the meeting, representatives from newspapers, television stations, news agencies, magazines and other media in both countries discussed the characters of news reporting in China and Japan, as well as how to contribute to the building of strategic, mutually beneficial relations between the two neighbors through news reporting.
The participants believed that such dialogues were important in deepening understanding between media workers of the two countries and suggested that a long-term mechanism for such dialogues be setup.
Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda met with the Chinese representatives Tuesday and congratulated them on the success of the dialogue. Fukuda said he hoped a mechanism for open dialogues can be established between the Japanese and the Chinese media.
The meeting, held to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic normalization between China and Japan, received support from Japanese Foreign Ministry and Chinese Embassy in Japan.
