Hundreds of business leaders from China and Latin American nations gathered here Tuesday to discuss ways to boost trade and investment ties between the two sides.
Entrepreneurs from 16 countries, including China, Argentina and Brazil, and representatives from several international organizations opened a China-Latin America business summit Tuesday in the Chilean capital.
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet said at the opening ceremony of the meeting that Chile's exports to China have grown by 140 percent and imports from China by 40 percent since a free trade agreement between the two countries took effect last year.
China has replaced the United States as Chile's biggest trading partner, Bachelet said.
During the meeting, participants will explore new areas and methods in trade and economic cooperation between China and Latin American nations. Source: Xinhua
