Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi at his official residence on Saturday.
The comprehensive strategic relationship between China and Malaysia has made important progress in recent years, Yang said.
The two countries have seen frequent exchanges at various levels and the economic and trade cooperation have achieved remarkable results, Yang said.
Yang also noted that Sino-Malaysia cooperation has a broad prospect, adding that China is willing to work together with Malaysia to maintain the high-level exchanges and step up efforts to formulate action plans of strategic cooperation.
China is also willing to work together with Malaysia to carry out cooperation in such fields as science and technology, education and cultural exchanges, while maintaining good coordination and collaboration in regional and international affairs to further promote ties between the two countries, he said.
Badawi said that relations between Malaysia and China are developing fast and the fruits of cooperation between the two countries in various fields are remarkable.
Malaysia valued the strategic ties with China and adhered firmly to the "one China" policy, Badawi said.
The Malaysian prime minister said that Malaysia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Malaysia. He hoped that the two countries will further boost exchanges of culture, youth and political parties as well as their cooperation on international and regional issues.
Badawi also noted that China is a friend and partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Yang said that China will continue to make efforts to deepen China's ties with ASEAN.
Yang arrived here late Friday for an official visit to Malaysia.
