Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his Malaysian counterpart Syed Hamid Albar agreed after a meeting in Kuala Lumpur Saturday that the two countries will step up working on action plans for their strategic cooperation.
They also expressed hopes that the plans could be signed as early as possible.
The two ministers reached consensus that the two countries should explore new fields to deepen economic and trade cooperation, strengthen cooperation in bilateral investment, infrastructure construction and energy, and boost the South-South cooperation.
They also agreed to promote exchanges in such fields as culture, sports, tourism and youth as well as exchanges between the peoples, organizations, news media and political parties.
The two foreign ministers met here to discuss bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern.
Yang arrived here late Friday for an official visit to Malaysia.
