Chinese Ambassador to Britain Fu Ying said Tuesday that China and Britain are facing new opportunities for development.
Fu made the remarks at a luncheon hosted by a Britain-China trade group, saying that both countries are experiencing broad and deep transformation, and have more common ground in their strategic interests. Therefore, developing bilateral ties is in the fundamental interests of the two peoples.
She said China needs an international environment of peace and cooperation as the nation is at the critical stage of industrialization and further deepening reform and opening up.
Both countries cherish the concept of free trade, opening to the outside world and innovation. They share similar views on many international issues, which forms basis for their joint effort to meet global challenges, the Chinese ambassador said.
China attaches great importance to service, education, finance and technical innovation and environmental protection. Britain almost has an advantage in such fields, she added.
