China and Togo inked two accordsThursday to strengthen cooperation in economic expertise.
Chinese Ambassador Yang Min and Togolese Cooperation Minister Gilbert Bawara signed the two agreements, including 17 millionyuan (about 2.29 million U.S. dollars) in grant and a10-million-yuan (about 1.35-million-dollar) interest-free loan provided by the Chinese government.
Relevant departments of the two countries will negotiate a joint agreement on some projects funded by the money, Bawara said.
"Over the past several decades, especially in the most difficult period Togo has just experienced, we are glad to see the People's Republic of China has always sided with the Togolese government and people," he said.
Bawara, on behalf of the Togolese government and people,expressed appreciation for China's assistance to his country indeveloping the economy and improving the people's well-being.
