4000 Chinese and Japanese youth will exchange visits in 2008
During Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda's visit to China, the leaders of the two countries set 2008 as the "year of Sino-Japanese friendly communications between young people", so as to enhance the friendship between the two countries.
According to Mr. Mitsuo Sakaba, the press secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, 4000 participators from both countries will be involved in the event.
The Japanese side will invite 3,000 young Chinese to visit Japan, and China will invite 1,000 young people in Japan to visit China. Most of them will be high school students, and others college students.
Sakaba said as far as he knows, this is so far the largest official youth exchange program between China and Japan, it will contribute to the promotion of mutual trust of the two countries.
