Philippine House Speaker ends Guizhou leg of China trip

Jose De Venecia, Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives, ended his three-day visit to southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday.

During his visit, De Venecia talked with Shi Zongyuan, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Congress, on the strengthening of friendship between the Philippines and Guizhou and the further promotion of economic exchanges and cooperation.

De Venecia also had discussions with local entrepreneurs and visited the museum of folk art, a gymnasium and a village of the Miao ethnic group.

He then set off for the next leg of his China trip, Kunming City of Yunnan Province in southwest China.

De Venecia, at the invitation of Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), is paying a goodwill official visit to China from Jan. 8 to 16.
