China will assist Sudan in establishing an agricultural technology demonstration center, according to a cooperative protocol signed here by the two countries Thursday.

The center, covering about 60 hectares in Al-Qadarif in eastern Sudan, is designed to boost agriculture in Sudan by breeding improved strains, production demonstration and personnel training.

The two governments will consign an enterprise chosen by China to operate the center for 10 years upon its completion.

The protocol followed the outcome of the Beijing Summit of China-Africa Cooperation Forum held in November 2006.

Chinese Ambassador Li Chengwen and Agriculture and Forests Minister of Sudan Alaghbash signed the protocol. A Chinese agriculture delegation attended the signing ceremony.
