Presently, china's export volume ranks the second in the world, but accounts for less than 2 percent in the United Nations purchase orders, lagging behind India and some other developing countries.
A Shanghai-held seminar attended by officials at China's Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Commerce and UN representatives in China lately called on Chinese companies to grasp opportunities to obtain more purchase orders from UN.
Procurement organizations of the United Nations also hope to establish long-term and more direct partnership relations with Chinese suppliers. However, the inefficiency of governmental coordination, impasse of necessary purchase channels, as well as the lack of tax-free storehouses contribute to the sluggish development of the UN direct purchase in China.
