Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe on Friday hailed China's measures to boost cooperation with African countries, saying China has honored its commitments to cooperation initiatives.
Gnassingbe, who met with Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Wei Jianguo in Lome, praised China's efforts in implementing the eight policy measures proposed at the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2006.
It went beyond Togo's expectations that China has launched so many projects in less than two years since the summit, the president said.
Togo hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in agriculture, particularly through an agricultural technology demonstration center, Gnassingbe said.
The center could help ease Togo's food shortage, which remains the biggest challenge for the African country, by introducing new technologies and best practices to farmers, he said.
Wei said China is working to open such a center soon and will build hospitals and schools in Togo.
China will also help Togo build a hydroelectric power station and a new parliament building, Wei added.
