Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao congratulated the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) on its 11th summit held in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

Premier Wen, who extended his congratulations in a message sent Thursday, said China cherishes its traditional friendly relationship with Islamic countries and the OIC and highly values their role in international affairs.

China would like to make joint efforts with Islamic countries in deepening cooperation between the two sides in various fields and contributing to building a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity, Wen said.

The 57-nation organization opened its two-day meeting on Thursday, during which the revising of the charter will be discussed.
