For effective traffic control during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Air Traffic Management Bureau of Civil Aviation established the Olympic Air Traffic Management Operation Command Center. Five teams will work on operation coordination, coordination of military aviation, air traffic control technology, equipment security, and technical meteorological services. Three regional Olympic Air Traffic Management command centers will be set up in northern China, northeastern China, and eastern China; and under the regional command center will be ATC command centers in Tianjin, Qingdao, and Qinhuangdao. During the Olympics, the command center and the working groups will work in shifts, providing 24 hours of flight monitoring between cities that will hold Olympic events. Currently, the meteorological department of Air Traffic Management has completed the construction of Olympic weather protection projects; established an expert advisory body; created a hotline linked with the National Weather Service to ensure that BOCOG, airlines, airports and those needing access toaviation weather information get accurate weather information services such as stadium and airport weather information, airport weather condition forecasts, and the weather conditions on designated routes.
