Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here Thursday with Yu Myung-hwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea (ROK). The two sides exchanged views on the China-ROK relations and other issues.

When conferring on the Taiwan issue, according to a press release from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Yu Myung-hwan stressed that the ROK government would firmly abide by the one-China policy and oppose Taiwan's planned referendum on UN membership in the name of Taiwan.

The referendum would only increase tensity across the Taiwan Straits and undermine the stability in the region, Yu Myung-hwan was quoted as saying in the press release.

On the same day, Yu Myung-hwan also met Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
