Education and youth communication is an important bridge for enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and the U.S. people, as well as a major force pushing forward a sound and stable development of bilateral relations, he said.
Since China's reform and opening up to the outside world, the Chinese government has selected and assisted a large number of students to the United States. "China also welcomes U.S. youth to study in China," Xi said.
He said the Harvard University has a long history of exchange with China, and has built stable and broad cooperation with Chinese universities.
He believed that the Harvard University, under the leadership of Faust will continue to expand communication and cooperation with the Chinese education circle and promote mutual understanding and friendship between young people of the two countries.
It is Faust's first China visit since she assumed the office of president of the Harvard University in 2007, during which she was granted honorary doctor of the Beijing University, and delivered speeches in the Beijing University and Qinghua University. Source:Xinhua
