The Embassy of Bangladesh in Beijing held a reception on Wednesday, marking the 37th anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Munshi Faiz Ahmad addressed the reception.
Assistant Foreign Minister of China He Yafei attended the reception, together with other Chinese and Bangladeshi officials and scholars as well as diplomatic envoys of various countries in China and representatives from international organizations.
On March 26, 1971, Bangladesh's independence was formally declared, leading to a nine-month bloody war against the Pakistani occupation forces that resulted in the emergence of a sovereign state in the global map.
China and Bangladesh have seen smooth development of bilateral relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in October 1975.
