Hua Jianmin, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the second "Beijing - Seoul Forum" on the 27th in Beijing; and also met with a delegation led by former South Korean Prime Minister Li Hongjiu.

In his speech, Hua Jianmin pointed out that Chinese - South Korean relations are at their best in history: we are standing at a new historical starting point. Both are curcial nations in Northeast Asia. In effect, to further consolidate and develop Chinese-South Korean relations is in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples; and is conducive to regional peace and development. China is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation in all areas with South Korea, and promote Chinese - South Korean relations in a healthy and stable manner.

Li Hongjiu's delegation arrives at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
