The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, the State Council, the Central Military Commission and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Sunday expressed their "heartfelt gratitude" toward states, governments, parliaments, political parties, international groups, civil organizations and their leaders for congratulations on the newly-elected Chinese leaders.

Hu Jintao was re-elected Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Wu Bangguo was re-elected Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th NPC, Wen Jiabao was reappointed Chinese Premier, Jia Qinglin was reelected chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC and Xi Jinping was elected vice-president at the just-concluded First Session of the 11th NPC and the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC.

Entrusted by these leaders, "we express our heartfelt gratitude," the general offices of the NPC's standing committee, the state council and the central military commission said in a joint statement and the National Committee of the CPPCC in another.

The gratitude was also extended to foreign ambassadors to China, individuals, overseas Chinese, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots who sent congratulatory messages on the occasion.
