China was happy to see a smooth Nepal Constituent Assembly election, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu Friday night.

Replying to a journalist's question about the CA election in Nepal, Jiang said China respected the choice of the Nepalese people for the social system and development road that conformed to the reality of the country.

Hailing Nepal as a friendly neighbor, she said China sincerely hoped the country would realize political stability and economic development as soon as possible. Jiang added China would continue to provide all assistance within its ability.
