"CNN and Jack Cafferty are unprofessional, morally low and dirty," said one message left by a PD Online Forum user named myfriend. "He (Jack Cafferty) is unfit and unprofessional as a global news anchor. As such, CNN must dump him," myfriend added.
On April 9th 2008, Mr. Jack Cafferty, a commentator for CNN's The Situation Room, labeled the Chinese people in highly offensive terms by saying, "They (Chinese) are basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they've been for the last 50 years."
The aforementioned statement triggered hundreds of messages from PD Online readers expressing anger and condemnation against Jack Cafferty and CNN. Many readers analyzed and revealed the true motives for action against China and its people; and asked CNN to fire Jack Cafferty.
The messages are as follows:
"CNN is an evil American broadcasting company on this planet; thereby causing harm to humanity. It must be brought to its knees by China. "
"CNN should at least 'fire' Mr. Jack Cafferty and prohibit him from appearing on any CNN programs, just like what Imus faced last year after he insulted female African- American basketball players!"
"They do not want to see a rising and more powerful China which may challenge their supremacy and position as the world's police. They believe it's justified to invade poor countries like Iraq under the pretext or excuse of anti-terrorism. The Cafferty incident offers a great historic opportunity to China and ethnic Chinese worldwide to condemn such racism; and make it known worldwide."
"It is indeed a shame that a news network, which has won the respect of people around the world for its responsible reporting, would permit one of its employees to resort to the role of the demagogue."
"The West has treated China as their number one enemy since after the Cold War. This is because the West is so "jealous and scared" of China. The Chinese people are advancing their economy and can now play a leading role in many areas."
