Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has reiterated that Nepal cannot deviate from its one-China policy and cannot allow anti-China activities to take place in the Nepali territory.

According to Friday's The Himalayan Times, Koirala said this during a meeting with US ambassador to Nepal Nancy J Powell here on Thursday.

Koirala's foreign affairs adviser Aditya Baral said the US ambassador, who is returning to Washington DC on Friday for a periodical briefing on the state of affairs in Nepal, had met Koirala to enquire about the latest developments regarding the constituent assembly and government formation procedures.

Koirala told her that as a consensus government was the mandate of the election, the next government will be formed on the basis of consensus and that he was taking the initiative for the same.
