The Red Cross Society of China decided on Tuesday to offer 30,000 U.S. dollars in aid to the Myanmar Red Cross Society for cyclone disaster relief and reconstruction.

A devastating cyclone, Nargis, ripped through Myanmar over the weekend, leaving at least 22,500 people dead and 41,054 missing.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said at a regular press conference on Tuesday that China has decided to offer 1 million U.S. dollars worth of aid, including relief materials worth 500,000 U.S. dollars, to help Myanmar with its disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts.
