Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang confirmed here on Friday that three Chinese construction workers have been kidnapped in Nigeria's southern Cross River state.

Qin added that China was making all efforts to rescue them.

The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria was exerting all efforts with relevant parties to rescue the three workers, Qin said.

The workers were seized by unidentified people on Tuesday in Calabar, the capital city of Nigeria's southern Cross River State.

The workers, all employees of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corp., were abducted near the company's compound in Calabar, according to a company official.
