Several European countries have offered generous financial and technical aid to China over the deadly earthquake disaster on Monday.
The British government will donate 1 million pounds (about 2 million U.S. dollars) in aid to help China fight the disaster, British Secretary of State for International Development Douglas Alexander announced on Wednesday.
Ten British search and rescue volunteers with specialist search equipment are also flying to China to help in the disaster relief efforts, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported on Wednesday.
Britain's non-governmental welfare organizations Save The Children UK and OXFAM have either sent teams to the disaster areas to help the locals or raised disaster relief funds for China.
The Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) announced Wednesday that it will give 1 million euros (about 1.6 million dollars) to help China cover the earthquake losses.
The Belgian government also pledged extra relief funds to China on Wednesday, raising the total sum to 650,000 euros (1.04 million dollars).
The Foreign Ministry of Greece, a quake-prone counry, has pledged to donate 200,000 euros (320,000 dollars) of emergency funds to China's disaster regions, and offered to share anti-earthquake experience with China.
