By 7:00pm on the 14th, five foreign embassies in China and international organizations offered to provide emergency assistance to China's earthquake-stricken areas, as one reporter learned from the Commerce Department on the 14th.

The Japanese Embassy in China said that the Japanese government will provide earthquake-stricken areas with approximately 500 million yen in emergency aid. The International Development office of the United Kingdom in China said that the British Government will to provide 1 million pounds of relief supplies to earthquake-stricken areas. The Korea international cooperation agency said that the South Korean government will provide about 1 million U.S. dollars of emergency aid to the earthquake-stricken areas. The Italian Embassy in China said that the Italian government is preparing to send a field hospital, rescue supplies, tents and other accommodation supplies to victims by air; and will also provide other emergency relief supplies according to the Chinese side. The United Nations International Children's Fund office in China committed to provide 300,000 U.S. dollars of emergency aid to the affected areas; and these assistance funds will be used to buy first-aid medicines, tents and other urgently-needed relief supplies.
