The disaster relief professionals sent by Japanese government will arrive in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, early Friday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry said Thursday afternoon that the professionals, including about 60 technicians and medical personnel, will go to disaster-hit areas upon arrival to assist the rescue work.
They are also the first batch of foreign disaster relief professionals arriving in China since the 7.8-magnitude earthquake rocking Sichuan Province on Monday afternoon.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said at a regular press conference Thursday afternoon that the Chinese government accepts the Japanese professionals taking into consideration of the distance and promptness.
As for the proposal of some other countries to send rescue personnel to the disaster-hit areas, Qin said the Chinese side is highly appreciated for that, and relevant departments are studying the proposal in accordance with the reality. Source: Xinhua
