More leaders, officials of foreign countries, int'l organizations mourn China's quake victims

More foreign governments and leaders have expressed their condolences and sympathies for the victims of the deadly earthquake that hit southwest China's Sichuan province on May 12.

Up to 17:00 Beijing time (0900 GMT) Friday, heads of state and government, parliamentary leaders, officials of international organizations and people from all walks of life from 153 countries visited Chinese embassies, consulates or missions to mourn the victims of the earthquake, according to a release from China's Foreign Affairs Ministry. The following are a list of them.

The heads of state and government are:

Malian President Amadou Toumany Toure;

President of the Comoros Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi with all government ministers and advisors;

Bahamas Governor General Arthur D. Hanna and Deputy Governor General Arthur Foulkes and Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham;

Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis;

Nigerien Prime Minister Seyni Oumarou;

Antigua and Barbuda's Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Works Wilmoth Daniel.

Parliamentary leaders include:

Speaker of General People's Congress of Libya Muftah Muhammad Kaiba;

Speaker of Djibouti's National Assembly Idriss Arnaoud Ali;

President of Mozambique Parliament Eduardo Joaquim Mulembwe;

Speaker of Nigerian House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole;

Philippine Senate President Manuel Villar.

Foreign government officials are:

British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband;

Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Per Stig Moeller;

Djibouti Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahamoud Ali Youssouf;

Nigerien Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Aichatou Mindaoudou;

Malawi's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Joyce Banda;

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Witold Wascykowski;

Secretary General of Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amandin Rugira;

State Secretary to Swedish Ministry for International Development Cooperation Joakim Stymne;

U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael O. Leavitt and Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte;

Canadian Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity Jason Kenney;

Chairman of Guinean Economic and Social council Michel Kamano;

Uganda's Minister Without Portfolio Dorothy Hyuha;

Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Pangestu.

Other leaders of parties and organizations include:

Director-General of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Rogelio Pfirter;

President of International Court of Justice Judge Rosalyn Higgins.

In addition, Lesotho's King Letsie III signed his name on the condolence book. Comorro designated May 22 as a national mourning day for the Chinese earthquake victims.
