Egyptian Minister of Information Anas Ahmad Nabih el-Fekki on Wednesday expressed keenness to boost media cooperation between Egypt and China.
In his talks with visiting head of China's State Council Information Office Wang Chen, Fekki hailed the friendly Egypt-China relations and the deepened cooperation in various fields.
The Egyptian minister said he hopes to further the bilateral cooperation in TV news broadcasting, especially in promoting the broadcasting of Chinese TV news in Egyptian media.
Meanwhile, he hailed the great changes and development in Beijing, as well as China's social and economic progress he witnessed when he accompanied Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak during his visit to China to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit in November 2006.
For his part, Wang noted that China attaches great importance to the relations with Arab countries including Egypt and will promote the media cooperation with Egypt.
He cited the success of the first Forum on China-Arab information cooperation jointly organized by his Office and the Cairo-based Arab League (AL) secretariat in April in Beijing as a good example of such cooperation.
Wang also briefed Fekki on the preparation for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games as well as China's ongoing earthquake relief efforts, expressing appreciation to Egypt's relief assistance.
Fekki expressed his confidence in China's ability to overcome the current difficulties caused by the deadly earthquake in the southwest province of Sichuan on May 12, as well as the confidence in China's success in hosting the Olympics Games.
Wang and his delegation, who arrived here on Tuesday on the AL invitation, were scheduled to attend the meeting of AL Council of information ministers on Thursday.
He also met Abdalla Hassan, chairman and editor-in-chief of the official Egyptian news agency MENA on Tuesday.
