Trade and investment and inter-cultural dialogues are the two major issues on the agenda of the 5th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP) which is held in Beijing from June 18-20.

Representatives from member parliaments of ASEP will discuss how to push the Doha round talks forward and promote trade and investment between Asia and Europe. They will also exchange their views on strengthening dialogues between different cultures.

It is declared at the meeting that the two issues will also be an important part of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM)Summit to be held in autumn this year.

ASEP has 43 member parliaments currently with 15 of them from Asia and 28 from Europe, including the European Parliament.
