Chinese citizens and companies in the Netherlands have donated over 1.1 million euros (1.7 million U.S. dollars) for the earthquake victims in China.

Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun said Wednesday that the embassy had bought 208 tents for the quake-hit regions and sent the rest of the donation to the Chinese Red Cross and China's Ministry of Civil Affairs.

An 8.0-magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China's Sichuan province on May 12, killing at least 69,176 people, according to official figures.
