The Cuban media Tuesday hailed the visit by He Guoqiang, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The official daily Granma published a story on its front page about a meeting Monday between Cuban leader Raul Castro and He Guoqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

A picture was also published with the report showing the two leaders greeting each other with a handshake.

According to an official note, Castro and He, also secretary of the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, spoke highly of relations between Cuba and China and vowed to continue to strengthen them.

The newspaper also published a picture of the welcoming ceremony offered by Cuban First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, to the high-level CPC delegation led by He.

The Communist youth newspaper Juventud Rebelde also hailed the meeting between Castro and He, who arrived here late Sunday on a four-day visit.

China and Cuba established diplomatic ties in 1960 and currently maintain a close relationship of economic cooperation and a high level of exchanges between the two parties and governments.

Cuba is the first leg of He's four-nation visit, which will also take him to Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil and Angola.
