Vietnam Red Cross Society donated here Friday 200,000 U.S. dollars to victims of a recent strong earthquake in China's southwestern Sichuan Province.

Tran Ngoc Tang, chairman of the society said at the donation ceremony that Vietnamese people felt deep sorrow for the losses of the Chinese people caused by the earthquake. He hoped Chinese people in Sichuan could restore their life soon.

The donation campaign, launched last month, is widely participated by people across Vietnam, including those from government organizations, schools and companies, according to the society.

The money will be passed to the victims through the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.

The society has donated 20,000 U.S. dollars to Chinese earthquake victim last month.

By Friday noon, the death toll of China's major earthquake has reached 69,186, said the State Council Information Office of China.
