A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said here Wednesday that the CPC is willing to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with Sudan's National Congress Party.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting with a delegation of the National Congress Party, Sudan's ruling party, which was led by Mostafa Osman Ismail, the party's foreign affairs secretary and presidential advisor.

Wang spoke highly of the development of the China-Sudan relationship and expressed appreciation over the condolences and assistance conveyed by the Sudanese government after the May 12 earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

He said the CPC will maintain high-level exchanges with Sudan's National Congress Party and strengthen communications at all levels of the two parties to promote mutually beneficial cooperation.

Ismail agreed with Wang's appraisal of the bilateral relationship and his suggestions on further cementing ties.

He expressed sympathy and condolences for the deaths and destruction caused by the quake and handed over to China 100,000 U.S. dollars donated by the National Congress Party, as well as a day's salary totaling 15,000 U.S. dollars donated by the entire staff of a company in Sudan.

Ismail expressed thanks for China's efforts in pushing for settlement of the Darfur issue and China's long-term support for Sudan's economic development and social stability.

He reiterated Sudan's adherence to the one-China policy and support for China's actions to realize national reunification, safeguard its territorial integrity and maintain social stability.

He said Sudan opposes politicizing the Olympics and interfering in any country's internal affairs on the pretext of human rights. He also wished a complete success for the Games.

The two sides also exchanged views on promoting cooperation in economic and trade, energy and agriculture sectors between the two countries.
