Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Bolat Nurgaliyev said here Wednesday the SCO will seek "dialogue partners" to enrich its patterns of cooperation with other countries and organizations.
Nurgaliyev said at a press conference that the SCO foreign ministers' meeting, held on Friday in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, has agreed the leaders of the six member countries will approve the regulations on dialogue partner status during the SCO summit on Aug. 28 in Dushanbe.
The regulations would allow all nations and organizations which agree with SCO's aims and principles and are interested in developing relations with the SCO to become its dialogue partners.
"We have observers, and we will have dialogue partners, thus the SCO has a more systematic framework of cooperation with other nations and organizations," said Nurgaliyev.
Nurgaliyev said a lot of work has been done to prepare for the summit. The foreign ministers' meeting agreed on a list of agreements to be signed at the summit, including a declaration, which will reflect the six heads of state's positions and views on the international and regional situation.
The foreign ministers also discussed some other subjects, including the security of the Beijing Olympic Games, saying the six nations share the readiness to ensure the safety of the games and have kept high-level anti-terrorism cooperation.
The SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure held a meeting on July 3 in Beijing to discuss the cooperation on the safety and anti-terrorism work for the Beijing Olympics.
The SCO, founded in 2001, groups China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The SCO accepted Mongolia as an observer to the organization in2004 and offered observer status to Pakistan, Iran and India in 2005.
