Relevant countries should abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, and not take actions that may complicate and magnify disputes, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Ministry spokesman Qin Gang made the remarks here on Thursday in response to questions related to the "inspection" of Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Najib Tun Razak as well as some other officials and reporters to the Danwanjiao.

Qin said the Chinese side has made clear its stance to the Malaysian side through diplomatic channel. China possesses indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands and adjacent waters.

China always advocates solving relevant disputes through consultation and negotiation, he said.
