The 2008 International Copyright Forum will be held in Beijing from the 27 to 28 of October, with the theme of "copyrights create wealth," according to the National Copyright Administration on August 27.

Apart from the opening ceremony and major forum, the event this year will cover three other related forums -- "copyright protection and the development of the software industry," "cultural copyright economic value," and "copyright protection and the development of New Media."

At this forum, the "Innovation Award," recommended by the National Copyright Administration and finally approved by the World Intellectual Property Organization, will be granted for the first time.

The award aims to recognize individuals and enterprises who have done outstanding work in copyright protection and in the development of the copyright industry.
