China handed over an optical fiber cable project to Nepal on Friday.
Chinese ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin, on behalf of the Chinese government, and Rameshore Prasad Khanal, secretary at Finance Ministry of Nepal, on behalf of the Nepali government attended the handover ceremony of Zhangmu-Kathmandu Optical Fiber Cable project.
"This over 100 km information express highway has been smoothly completed within seven-month. It is the result of joint efforts and the achievement of China-Nepal friendly cooperation," Zheng said at the ceremony, adding "I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the completion and utilization of this information express highway."
"This high-tech optical fiber cable has adopted the cutting-edge technology of today and preserved huge room for Nepal's development of information industry in the future," Zheng said.
Currently, the new Nepali government has just taken into shape, and this is the first assisted project being handed over to the new government, according to Secretary Khanal. He also hoped that with joint efforts, there will be more cooperation and projects in the future between the two countries.
