China on Tuesday urged relevant parties to work together to ensure the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue proceed on the right track.
"As the host of the six-party talks, China has been keeping close contact and coordination with other parties on related issues," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said here at a regular briefing.
In the past few days Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei had met with the visiting negotiators of the United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea, and ambassadors of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Russia, respectively.
"They held fruitful discussions on the current situation and further steps of the six-party talks," Jiang said.
"It is not easy for the six-party talks to have achieved such results since starting in 2003. Each party should value the hard-won results."
Jiang also voiced the hope of parties involved to maintain contact and show flexibility for a proper solution to the relevant problem at an early date.
The DPRK said on Aug. 26 it had stopped disabling its nuclear facilities and had considered restoring the Yongbyon nuclear reactor, accusing the United States of violating a disarmament deal.
The United States said last week there was no evidence of actual reconstruction of the DPRK nuclear facility.
