Vladislav Surkov, first Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, Friday met with Wang Jiarui, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to discuss bilateral ties.

Surkov spoke highly of the Russia-China ties and welcomed the exchange between parties of the two countries.

The exchange is an important component of bilateral relations of the two countries, and enriches the content of the Russia-China strategic partnership, he said, adding that the two sides should further the exchange and cooperation between parties.

Surkov also congratulated China on its remarkable achievements in recent years and the success of the Beijing Olympics.

Wang, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said both the CPC and the Chinese government attach great importance to the Sino-Russian strategic partnership, and hope to make concerted efforts with the Russian side to promote bilateral cooperation.
